DYING TO YOURSELF. 1 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. ( Luke 9:23 ) Dying to yourself expresses the true essence of the Christian life, in which we take up our cross and follow Christ. Dying to self is part of being born again - the old self dies and the new self comes to life. Not only are we born again when we come to salvation, but we also continue dying to self as part of the process of sanctification. As such, dying to self is both a one-time event and a lifelong process. When you ponder upon your life do these questions arise in your mind – What kind of life am I living? What is my heart condition? Am I always begging of God to bless me and my family? Do I strive to be a blessing in the life of others? Am I ready and ever willing to share the truth about Jesus with my family, friends, colleagues and neighbors? Do I use the gift of prosperity to help others? Do I understand and acknowledge that whatever blessings I have received is not for my benefit but to be a blessing in the lives of others? Do you understand my brother/sister, that if you are leading a life of selfishness, it is destroying the destiny of so many other people including yourself? And if Jesus had to live the life you live, you would not have this life what you have.Jesus died on the cross, to set you and me free from slavery. He died to snatch you from Satans hand by dying on the cross. He died to himself to save you. We were heading for hell because of our sin, but the Blood of Jesus on the Cross gave us this new life. Hence this new life of yours now belongs to Jesus. Make a commitment now that you will live for Jesus and for others, and heaven will back you up on that commitment. Be faithful to Jesus as he is faithful to you and me.Hallelujah.
