DaMarcus prognosis looks a bit more promising after the speech therapist examined him yesterday. He still isnt ready for a bottle as it poses too big of a risk for aspirating. She, however, did say that if he begins tube feedings, it might not be permanently. They will begin a speech therapy plan on Monday so that he can respond to certain signals and relearn how to swallow if necessary. Just like the neurosurgeon, the speech therapist said that his brain may remap itself, so his gag reflex might come back. Its going to take time to tell.
