Dad Update 7-12-14 - Thrilled to report that Dad is out of ICU and has been moved to the Telemetry unit. The second surgery looks to have worked, just a minor side effect that the sinus cavities below his eyes are swollen. Makes it look like hes been clocked in the face a few times, which is entirely possible since hes back to normal, but the nurses have assured me that it is indeed from the surgery and should subside. His awareness has greatly improved, which means hes figured out that he has been in the hospital for two weeks and wants to leave. If he calls you to pick him up and take him home, dont do it! Seriously!! Along with the awareness comes some severe boredom unfortunately. Hospitals arent the most interesting places it turns out. If you were waiting to visit him, now would be the time....just try to avoid topics that would raise his blood pressure (politics!). :) Visiting hours are 10am to 8pm.
