Dad asked me to post the poem I wrote that was printed in moms funeral bulletin so here it is: Her clothes hang in the closet, her shoes are by the door Her warm and cozy slippers at the bedside on the floor In the air a hint of perfume, the kind she liked to wear Seems the signs of mothers presence can be found everywhere In the house and in the yard one can see the things she’s done From early morning hours until after set of sun The world now seems so empty without her presence there But without a doubt her impact can be seen everywhere The things she did, the lives she touched, we stop now to recall The kind, willing, loving heart that somehow touched us all There’s not much to her body now; she gave so much away In the kind and loving acts she did day after day. Though it’s so hard to accept it, what lies here is just a shell Inside it lived the one we knew and loved so well This body was just a tool that she used while she was here To tell those that she met about the Savior she held dear A husband feels a tearing pain deep inside his heart As he sees these words fulfilled “until death do us part” Four children now are mourning while one child leaps with joy As mother is reunited with her precious little boy The tears she shed are gone now, no more cancer, no more pain She left these all behind her; never feeling them again Now the doors of heaven open to receive one of its own A celebration has begun; another child made it home.
