Dad is sleeping as I sit looking out at Billings from just above - TopicsExpress

Dad is sleeping as I sit looking out at Billings from just above tree level window from the top of the Billings Clinic. He is doing okay. He is responsive and understands what is happening. Michelle is running errands and mom just left to see her, I forget, podiatrist I think. Michelle made a good call dragging him in here. I had been on the fence about it for days. We were managing, but I didnt realize just how much I was regulating his meds and his fluid intake. We would have puttered along for another week and it is good we got him in and hydrating and on patches for pain and blood pressure. Dr Zin is scoping him today. He will look to see if the esophagus is blocked (dad hiccups when he drinks and isnt hungry) and will be putting stents in the ducts in the pancreas. We will see how that works over the next few days. The next decision is about switching to chemotherapy. We are seeing Dr Therakunda on Tuesday, though we may push that back depending on how the stents go. The chemo is oral. One pill is twice daily for two weeks and the other is five times a day for five days. Then off the pills for two weeks. If we go that route, we will probably start in two weeks. We probably will need to monitor him as we go through this process, to make sure he is taking the meds, keeping them down and watch for the side effects. Phil came by. Dad got up to go to the bathroom and is sitting up now and talking with Phil. He is alert and aware of what is going on. The color is back, though he could use some sunshine. I starting a Caringbridge page for him. Full url is caringbridge.org/visit/raychoriki and a short one is bit.ly/raychoriki. Looking for pictures of mom and dad to put up there.
