Dad releases photos of baby hurt in hit-and-run Holiday, Florida -- 17-year-old Dakota Harwood knows he and his family are lucky to be alive. Dakota says he and his wife, Jordan, were coming back from the park pushing their four-month-old baby boy, Jayson, in a stroller down the sidewalk when a man plowed into them. He says they didnt see the light blue Ford Crown Victoria car headed towards them because they were hit from behind. It happened in Holiday off Chatlin Road and Trask Drive around 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon. Dakota says, It was completely unexpected. My first priority was my child. The impact of the crash sent Jayson out of his stroller and through the air. He landed in some nearby bushes. His father says he has road rash on his body, cuts, scrapes and bruises. He adds, He has a little contusion on his head. The doctor said he has minor bleeding from the brain which should stop soon and theres bruising around the brain. Dakota says his son is moving around but cries out in pain from time to time. He says hes expected to be in the hospital for at least a week. Meanwhile Dakota says he and his wife Jordan are okay. Dakota says, Its hard for me to walk. I have a torn calf muscle in my right leg and I have some pretty bad road burn everywhere - on my arms - my legs. He says Jordans injuries arent as bad. Shes lucky. She got clipped by the bumper. She has a bruised calf muscle and a sprained ankle and just minor road rash. Witnesses say the driver was in a light blue Ford Crown Victoria possibly a 2000 year model. Dakota says he got a good look at the driver because he actually stopped and asked if they were okay then said hed call 9-1-1 before he sped off. He adds, We were telling him just to stay there - stay there - because thats what youre supposed to do after an accident. Stay there. But instead of that he just got back into the car and took off. Dakota describes the driver as a white man in his late 20s with brown hair, and a mouth full of gold teeth. He believes he was wearing a gray shirt at the time.
