Daily Connection Reflection November 12, 2013 Luke 23:35-37 The people around the cross taunt Jesus by saying “if he is the Messiah - the one who will save people, let him prove it by saving himself first.” But he stayed on the cross. What they don’t understand is the one thing he can’t do (if he is going to save our lives) is to save his own life. One of the things I admire about Jesus is that he doesn’t yield to pressure to perform according to religious or popular opinions of how he should behave! He knows what values are important and he lives by them - in fact he dies for them, regardless of people’s opinions or advice. So what he has said, goes. What he planned to do (save the lost, give us rich, make us righteous, adopt us into the very life of the Triune God, and give us satisfying, everlasting life,) will be done. We can count on it. He won’t change his mind or actions on our behalf no matter what religious people say or how many say it. At the final judgement he will not change his verdict on us based of people’s opinions of him or of us. He will be fair and honest and redemptive. He will do what is right and best for us. We can count on it. He proved that on the cross.
