Daily Devotional - James Hethmon Isaiah 41:10 (CEB) Don’t fear, because I am with you; don’t be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will surely help you; I will hold you with my righteous strong hand. When God tells us these things, why do we still insist on doing it our way? We try to become good enough before we come to Him. We try to change our lives before we rely on Him. Were afraid he wont listen to us when we pray because of what we have done, or because we are not good enough. But the truth is, we cannot do anything without Him. Trying to go about making ourselves ready for Him is like us trying to wash stains out of a white shirt in muddy creek water, instead of using the bleach that is Jesus. Jesus is the only thing that will rid your life of sin, of darkness, and of guilt. Jesus is the only way to reach our Father. Once we realize that there is nothing we can do, but surrender to Him, He will make us new! John 14:6 (CEB) 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you have really known me, you will also know the Father. From now on you know him and have seen him.” 8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father; that will be enough for us.” 9 Jesus replied, “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been with you all this time? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I have spoken to you I don’t speak on my own. The Father who dwells in me does his works.
