Daily Devotional Soap Box Day 18: God, thank you for today. Thank you for a husband that helps with my projects. Even when I can be pretty ugly with him about it, cause all I have is an idea and material. Keep me focused on you, God. Im struggling with somethings right now, you know what they are and I know you will see me though them all. Just stay with me til we get to the other side. In your name I pray, amen. What does it mean to take up your cross and follow Jesus? Matthew 10:38 says And anyone who doesnt take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Study note from my bible: To take up your cross and to follow Jesus means to be willing to publicly identify with him, to experience almost certain opposition and to be committed to face even suffering and death for his sake. Me: So pick up your cross and follow Him. Do anything and everything you do all for the glory of God. To be a Christian is more than just admitting, believing and confessing, sure thats part of it but theres SO much more. You have to act on it. Dont just say the words. Mean it! If you were to walk up to someone and wave to them, they probably wouldnt give you a second glance. Well, maybe they would because you caught them by surprise. But if you walked up to someone and said hey! Im _______, and I love the Lord with all my heart, soul, mind and all my strength. Let me tell you what He can do for you. Do you have all your trust in the Lord? Are you on a good enough foundation that you dont doubt your faith and relationship with God? Im not 100% there yet. But Im working daily on it. Now, think about the story of Noah. God told Noah that he wanted Noah to build a boat. Not just a boat, but told Noah to build an ark. Knowing he would get picked on for building this ark, Noah carried his cross for the Lord. He said okay God, Ill do it! With all that being said, how many of us could do that? And do it without complaining or excuses... How many excuses can we make to not read our bible, to pray, to do anything that God asks us to do? We need to be more like Noah. Just trust God and do what he asks us to do. Its not fair that God formed himself in flesh to live among us, the whole time knowing he was gonna have to lay his life down for us. And we cant find the time to read his words hes left for us. Or talk to him and thank him. He just wants us to love him as much as he loves us. We have got to do better. youtu.be/Hlh6_5znn7U
