Its moving day. Donna and I are moving out of what has been our temporary abode; and moving into another temporary abode. The friends who were kind enough to take us in to their home last spring are moving to California on Sunday, so today, we move out. We had scheduled to move into an extended stay hotel on the east side of Columbus, but after visiting it we were a bit taken aback; its pretty scruffy. Not that our tastes lean toward Ritz or Hilton fair, but greasy carpets, broken chairs and the smell of a locker room are just kind of hard to swallow. It is also off the bus line and far from any stores or libraries. So were going out on a limb. We have just enough money to pay for one week at a cleaner place; and, if our math is right, we will have just enough money coming in over the next seven days to cover a second week. WE may have to live on beans and cheap noodles, but the sacrifice will be worth it. On Monday we meet with a VOA case worker to find out what kind of housing assistance they might be able to to offer; and later in the week I will be meeting with my employment counselor at Goodwill. We cross our fingers and hope more work will come my way from the temporary agency, or that I will be able to start something permanent before the wallet runs dry. All in all, 2015 is holding out significant promise for bettering our situation. Heres hoping it will deliver. Blessings to all of the friends who helped us survive 2014. :)
