Daily Devotional for Tuesday, September 24, 2013 Reading: Psalm 34:1-3 I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise will always be in my mouth. I praise the Lord - let the suffering listen and rejoice. Magnify the Lord with me! Together let us lift up his name on high! Reflection: What does the language used in this selection from Psalm 34 sound like to you? There may be various answers to that question. Some might say it sounds like a Call to Worship at the beginning of a Sunday worship service. Others might say that it sounds like a rallying cry of sorts. It also sounds like many contemporary praise and worship songs. This is primarily a psalm of praise, and the author has written it in a way that “magnifies” the name of the Lord and offers thanks and praise for God’s deliverance of the people. However, this psalm doesn’t just bring to mind singing praise and worship at a congregational worship service. The psalmist writes, “I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise will always be in my mouth.” We never have to wait until Sunday to praise the Lord. Instead, may the praise and worship of God be always on our lips and always in our hearts. Prayer: Lord God, as I go through my daily activities today, help me to keep my heart open to your influence, and may I continually give thanks to you for your awesome love and amazing grace. Amen.
