Daily Manna: Our Commission Tuesday, June 25, 2013 TEXT: EZEKIEL 2:1-10 Key Verse : “And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day” (Ezekiel 2:3). “Hide not thy talent in the earth, However small it be; Its faithful use, its utmost worth, God will require of thee, His own, which He hath lent on trust, He asks of thee again; Little or much, the claim is just, And thine excuses vain. Go, then, and strive to do thy part, Though humble it may be; The ready hand, the willing heart, Are all heaven asks of thee.” - William Cutler. God always looks for men in every generation to do His service. He found Prophet Ezekiel in his own generation – a generation of rebellious children of Israel who were carried away as captives into Babylon. Ezekiel was given the job to do at this time. Simply, he was to reveal the source and reason for their captivity. He was to make them know that their sins and rebellion against God were the reasons God delivered them into the hands of their enemies; and that only genuine repentance will earn them forgiveness and full reconciliation. Prophet Ezekiel was prompt and effective in his ministry. Unlike Moses, Jeremiah and Jonah who gave initial excuses of incompetence, Ezekiel was ready to go. As believers today, our own assignment is cut out for us: preaching the gospel. In our neighbourhoods, offices and schools, we should emulate Ezekiel by being prompt and effective in evangelism. God is counting on you as a soul- winner in this present dispensation. Thought for the Day : Promptness and diligence are key to heaven-sent assignments.
