Daily Prayer Tuesday August 26, 2014 Whenever I speak, I cry out proclaiming violence and destruction. This word of the Lord has brought me insult and reproach all day long. 9 But if I say, “I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,” his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot. - Jeremiah 20:8-9 Dear Lord, Jeremiah speaks about the burden you have laid on all your children. You have revealed so many truths to us, and then you drive us to tell the lost what you want them to hear. And we pay the price with you. They often resist, resent, avoid and insult us before they turn. Then, when we try to remain silent, the truth simmers and boils in our hearts. Its the same love curse your Son endured when he preached. Even his family resented him at times. Oh God, help us to speak the truth in love and not hold it in. Help us say what everyone needs to hear in every situation. And help us to willingly take the heat as our gift to honor you. And use our feeble mouths to bring your powerful message to cleanse and restore the hearts around us. And when we speak, take our dribbles and bless those people we love so much.
