Daily Teaching on the Second Coming of Christ By Paul Lawrence Bortolazzo The apostle Paul spoke of 3 mysteries concerning salvation: Gentiles becoming fellow heirs (Eph. 3:1-6), believers receiving immorality (1 Cor. 15:51-53), and the salvation Israel (Rom. 11:25-27). These 3 mysteries will take place at different times, for different reasons, each have a different result. For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles— if indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you, how that by revelation He made known to me the MYSTERY... which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets: that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel. (Eph. 3:1-6) Paul is describing a new mystery to the Ephesians: the grafting of believing Gentiles into the body. (Rom. 11:1-24) Gentiles were now fellow heirs of salvation with the Jews. Both are partakers of the promise in Christ through the gospel. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him. (Rom. 10:12) Within the body, there is no difference between a Jew or a Gentile; the Lord blesses all who call on Him. All believers are one in Christ Jesus. (Acts 11:26) Behold, I tell you a MYSTERY: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. (1 Cor. 15:51-53) Paul is teaching the Corinthians a future mystery: the resurrection of believers! (1 Thes. 4: 16-17) The apostle is saying a corrupted fleshly body will never be able to inherit the kingdom of heaven. This mystery will take place after the opening of the 6th seal (Mat. 24:29, Rev. 6:12-17); when the Son of Man comes in the glory of His Father (Mat. 24:27; 16:27) with His angels. (Mat. 24:30-31) In the twinkling of an eye, the dead in Christ (1 Thes. 4:14-15) will be raised incorruptible (1 Thes 4:16, 1 Cor. 15:51, John 5:28); immediately followed by a great multitude from every nation getting the victory over the Beast during the great tribulation. (1 Thes. 4:17, Rev. 7:9-14; 15:2) The mystery of Gentiles being grafted into the body, fellow heirs of salvation, was revealed in the first century! (Eph. 3:1-6) The mystery of the resurrection at the coming of the Son of Man is still future. (1 Cor. 15:50, Mark 13:26-27) In his letter to the Romans, the apostle writes of a third mystery. For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this MYSTERY, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And so all Israel will be saved...But in the days of the sounding of the seventh angel, when he is about to sound, the MYSTERY of God would be finished, as He declared to His servants the prophets. (Rom. 11:25-26, Rev. 10:7) Paul is exhorting believers living in Rome not to be misinformed about the future salvation of Israel. When the fullness of the Gentiles comes in (490 years); all Israel will be spiritually saved (Dan. 9:24). Once this persecution by the Gentiles is over, the 70th week of Daniel will end. (Dan. 9:24-27) This is when the Deliverer (Jesus) will come out of heavenly Zion and turn away ungodliness from Jacob! (Rom. 11:26b) ... The Deliverer will come out of Zion, and He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; for this is My covenant with them, when I take away their sins. (Rom. 11:27) Because of the covenant God made with Abraham, a remnant from Israel will have their sins taken away. (Gen. 17:7; 12:3, Dan. 9:24, Rom. 11:27, Heb. 9:27) Just days before the sounding of the seventh trumpet, John saw the Holy One coming down clothed in a cloud. (Rev. 10:1-7, Acts 1:11) On His head is a rainbow, his face is like the sun, his feet like fire. (Rev. 1:12-16, 2:18) The Holy One is on the earth when He announces the mystery of God is about to be finished. (Rev. 10:7) So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation. (Rev. 9:28) Coming in a cloud (Rev. 10:1), to begin the restoration of the kingdom of Israel (Acts 1:6-11), between the sounding of the sixth (Rev. 9:13) and seventh trumpets (11:15), the Messiah will physically appear a second time on earth (Heb. 9:28) to spiritually (Dan. 9:24) and physically redeem (Rev. 14:1-4, Zech. 14:1-5) a remnant from Israel (Rom. 11:25-27)! Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven. (Acts 1:9-11) The prophets foretold the Deliverer would return to the land of Abraham and forgive the children of Israel of their sins. (Dan. 9:24, Zech. 13:9, Hos. 6:1-2) This is the beginning of the restoration of the Kingdom of Israel. (Acts 1:6-11, 3:19-25) This restoration will be completed when the Lamb of God and His bride descend to a new earth inside a new heaven. (Rev. 14:9-11; 20:6) May the Holy Spirit bear witness, Prophecy teacher/Author Paul Lawrence Bortolazzo
