Damon Westcott asked for pics of the board I was reunited with after 36 years. This was my first fibreglass board. Mum bought it off a friend at work for me for $40 in 1972. We had just moved from Sydney where I had learned to surf on my Midget Farelly Coolite (foamie), I think Mum was trying to make me feel better! Lots of lovely memories. In 1977 I got my first brand new board. I used the old board as a slug gun target (shame)... Mum threw the board out a few years later! In 2013 a mate of mine found it in a garage sale. I could identify it by the slug gun pellets. Its looking battered and bruised, its sunburned, the nose is damaged and the tail is split (not me, I only shot the poor thing) but its priceless and I swear Ill never let it go again. Ive got some lovely collectable boards, this is the scruffiest of the lot, but I love it!
