Dana “Pssst…I’ve got a secret. I used to be a Democrat and for most of my life I was anti-gun. I was a master at arguing just about any subject with emotion instead of facts and logic. I believed everything that the news told me. The TODAY show was one of my favorite news sources! I was ignorant about many things; especially on the topic of guns. I started to feel that America was losing its values and traditions. We were going down a path I didn’t want to be a part of; I needed to do something to make a change. Then the current administration started in on gun control. The lies they stood there and told on television made me sick to my stomach. I had supported these people; I voted for Obama (the first time), I voted for Cuomo…I DID THIS TO US. I am part of the reason the country is headed in this direction. I had to do something and the first thing I thought of to show my discontent with the party was to immediately un-register as a Democrat and became unaffiliated, which I did last year. So why did I decide this year to change my party affiliation to Republican? Like all of you I was appalled that the SAFE Act passed and knew that we needed to start the process of getting the traitors out of office and vetting candidates that were strong supporters of the Constitution and of the Second Amendment. I live in Saratoga County and one of the hot races this year is for Sheriff. The good news: Saratoga County constituents will have a choice! The bad news: because I was unaffiliated I would NOT be able to vote for my candidate of choice in the Republican primary. It was then I started to think about what being “non-affiliated” really meant. Being unaffiliated was limiting my opportunity to support the candidate I want. I want a say. I know two things about next year’s election: 1) We all must stand up against Cuomo’s rule and vote him out 2) There is a high likelihood of a Republican primary for governor next fall. If I want to have a say in who is going to run against Cuomo, I needed to register as a Republican in order to vote in the primary. And that’s exactly what I’ve done.”
