Danjuma Byang wrote and i sentimentally quote.... THE JOS TERMINUS TWIN BOMB BLASTS The Chairman of CAN Plateau state, Rev Dr Soja Bewarang and we the state officials of CAN, including the chairman of Youth Wing of CAN and the chairperson of the Women Wing, have just finished going round the hospitals and mortuaries in Jos where the victims of the twin bomb blasts that took place yesterday afternoon are receiving treatment. I can confirm that from first hand information, the casualties are high. We saw close to 100 dead bodies. Many of them were either mutilated and/or burnt beyond recognition! The surviving victims are receiving treatment in four main hospitals; Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), Bingham University Teaching Hospital of ECWA, Our Lady of Apostles Hospital (OLA) and Plateau Specialist Hospital. Up till this morning NEMA and security agents were seen still bringing dead bodies to the mortuaries as they are still evacuating them from the debris of burnt and collapsed buildings and stores. The majority of the dead are women. The city is generally calm with many shops and business houses open for business. Expectedly, security agents are all over the city to prevent reprisal attacks. As I was saying before I was rudely interrupted yesterday, the security situation of our country is a complex one. There are fifth columnists in the security forces and in government. This is the main reason why the war against Boko Haram is lingering. Also, Boko Haram has become a brand name under which those who want to wrest power by all means are using to destabilize the country before 2015. Their game plan is to make President Jonathan look incapable of ruling the country. In fact if they know what to do to get rid of the President before 2015, they wont hesitate. The calls in certain quarters that Dr Jonathan must visit Chibok town to console the parents of the kidnapped girls, desperate the uncertain terrain, which is exasperated by the activities of fifth columnists in the security forces, must be read between the lines. If the president decides to visit Chibok, which he says he will, it should be unannounced and unscheduled. Most times American presidents visit their war fronts you only get to hear of it after the visit, for obvious security reasons. Ours shouldnt be different. Why am I saying this? President Jonathan may not be the best person to rule Nigeria. But if we are to choose between him and the jihad hawks who believe they are born to rule, and rule they must or else they make the country too hot to handle, then our choice is made easier! We should continue to pray for the President to be wise and bold enough to take obvious decisions that will move the country forward. In as much as he is not expected to be rash in his decisions like some of his military predecessors he should not be too cautious to cut off cancerous tissues too close to the vital organs of his administration. I say we should pray, not talk. We talk too much. The situation may look gloomy but our God is still in control! More about the Jos bomb blasts later. Pray!
