Danny Nickerson of Foxborough, Massachusetts, turned six years old Friday. That’s always a happy occasion, but for Danny it was a triumph. Danny was diagnosed last year with a fatal brain tumor. His family asked people on social media to mail him a birthday card to keep his spirits up. They did. The local post office manager said he’d never seen anything like it: Danny received over 7,000 packages and over a hundred thousand birthday cards. So, Danny, let me be the last to say, “Happy sixth birthday!” and the first to say, “Happy seventh birthday!” I hope you get twice as many cards next year.
