Darjeeling 17th July: The Darjeeling police has alleged Dawa Sangay, one of the accused in the murder of the AIGL president Madan Tamang was trying to flee today even after surrendering at the chief judicial magistrate court recently but is arrested and is brought to the police custody. Sangay had recently surrendered at the chief judicial magistrate court along with twelve others on 17th June this year whose names feature in the charge sheet filed by the CBI. After being interrogated by the CBI Dawa Sangay, Prabin Subba, Kamal Lama and Tenzing Khambachay was admitted at the Darjeeling District hospital for their supposed sickness, while others are serving times at jail. The police has further said to request a probe at the district court to examine whether the accused admitted at the hospital are really ‘sick’. According to the Darjeeling superintendent of police Mr Kunal Agarwal the information was reached that Dawa Sangay was trying to flee today. “Accordingly we approached the hospital today. When Khambachay sighted us he went back to his bed but Dawa has been arrested from the Darjeeling bazaar suspected for trying to flee. According to Dawa’s statement, he says he came to bazaar for a pathological treatment,” said Mr Agarwal. Further speculation are being made that even Khambachey was trying to flee, according to the police. “We will start an interrogation on this, and request the court to examine whether these accused are really sick or is just pretending,” Mr Agarwal added. Khambachey will be produced at the district court tomorrow, Mr Agarwal added.
