Dark Times and Difficult Periods Dark times are difficult - TopicsExpress

Dark Times and Difficult Periods Dark times are difficult periods of trial that most people try to avoid. Unfortunately for us, no matter how much effort we exert to avoid them, they are inevitable. Without proper insight and guidance, dark and difficult times can drain our enthusiasm for life and leave us both disillusioned and depressed. Nevertheless, I believe that these periods of trials serve to bring about positive outcomes. Sometimes trials are the consequential result of our own recklessness and undisciplined behavior. It is often the case that our risky behavior and bad decisions will come back to haunt us. Even though experience consequences, they are not meant to destroy us; but rather, they are to discipline us to behave better in the future. Secondly, some of the difficult times we face in life have nothing to do with anything we have done and are not the consequences of our own actions or behaviors. Sometimes we experience tragic situations and abnormal difficulties that originate from unfortunate external circumstances. Having to go through these situations may seem unfair; however they serve to develop our strength, endurance, and faith in God. They are like the strong winds and turbulent weather that prompts a tree to grow deeper roots and to develop a stronger trunk. In the same way, they help us develop the fortitude we need to withstand turbulent times. Finally, some trials are only meant to distinguish us from others. These are the ones that place us in a position that challenges us to be an example and a source of strength for someone else. Because of having experienced so many types of trials, we are now in a position where our tried and tested faith is needed to strengthen those who may be weak and at a point of despair. Just know that trials will come because they are inevitable, but let them discipline your behavior, develop your confidence, and distinguish you as an example and a leader for others to follow. ~Ervin C.
