Darling Willow is new to LR as of 8/1/14. She is 3-years-old and weighs +/- 65 lbs. She is being relinquished to LR by her owners because they have 3 kids and do not feel they have the time, space and attention she needs. Willow is described by her owners as having some anxiety, being nervous with change when meeting someone or going somewhere new, but she is very sweet once she warms up to the situation. We are told that she can sit, lay down, wait, stay, and shake to name a few, and that she easily learns new tricks! She loves chasing a ball, going for walks, playing at the beach, hiking and even camping. Other than playing, her favorite spot to be is napping by your feet. She is supposedly housebroken and leash-trained and medium energy. She has not been around cats, so no idea if she is good with them. She is used to sleeping on a dog bed with her owners and has absolutely no need to be crated as she has proven to be trustworthy when left alone. The LR volunteer had only good things to say about this shy girl. She was evaluated at the dog park and did fantastic! Here is what the LR volunteer reported: “She is very obedient with her owners. There was no aggression ever with any of the other dogs or people. I warmed her up to me and then touched her all over, rolled her over on her back - had her following me. She loves being pet and paid attention to. She loves the ball and retrieves it and brings it back then drops it at your feet for more. Strong on the leash for me but walked with a perfect heel for the owner. No problem taking the ball away or out of her mouth. My dog was in her face when I was giving her treats and she didnt care. She is gorgeous - about 65 lbs. They told me they leave her at most around 5 hours at a time free in the house and she never gets into anything -doesnt counter surf - no anxiety. Has a few dog buddies including the one she was originally abandoned with and they say she does fine with them. The mom walks her with the stroller to the park. They said if they are on a walk or in public and someone just comes up to her and reaches towards her without introducing first, she barks. She seems to be shy and afraid of big tall men and will bark. If a dog gets in her face or pushy she barks. Barking is the way she shows her fear and uneasiness, but according to them never a growl, snarl or nip and after interacting with her today and seeing her at the dog park I believe it.” It sounds like Willow is a shy girl, who just takes a short time to warm up to new situations. With a dedicated family who gives her the proper amount of love and attention, she should flourish and make a great FURever family member.
