Darn it, couldn’t resist liking someone’s post: my seven 1. I was diagnosed with the betes at exactly 15mos old. They weren’t sure I would make it. I was raised as a child first and a diabetic second, which I believe really mattered to my personal-acceptance and mental health and am thankful for mom’s foresight. 2. I have a step-brother and step-sister quite a bit older than me (smile), but have always been just my brother and sister. 3. I was a “professional” speaker for a few years, spending about 180 days a year on the road between my work and the speaking. I did not live in a van down by the river. 4. I recently “re-founded” a non-profit camp for children with diabetes with some other dedicated volunteers. This means I basically have an unpaid second job year around, and love it and would make it my real job if I could afford to eat. 5. I’m pretty sure the small engine repair and boat rental place I worked for one summer in high school was a front for money laundering. 6. I met my wife when I was the house director for a sorority house. Quite frowned upon in the HIED realms, but actually happens often. True story, regardless if anyone believes it---nothing romantic until she graduated. 7. I never take myself too seriously and love to joke and laugh, but am also quite emotional though rarely show it. Meaningful little things, or sappy stories/movies can choke me up. Even writing #1 above made me a little verklempt. :) Hit like and I will be forced by the FB karma gods to give you a number or I will be subjected to even more unwanted candy crush requests.
