Darned if I do, darned if I dont. Last year we lost a duck and had one injured because we had clipped their wings and when something got into the pen, they couldnt fly away. Yesterday our newest duck who was only 3 1/2 months old was killed because she flew out of the pen and came to the back door to see us. In a hurry to leave yesterday morning, we let our very large dog out for his potty break without doing a duck count in their pen and he immediately snapped her neck before she could fly away and we could get to her. I feel awful because she was my baby and just wanted to see us. She was so proud for figuring out how to fly (had just started getting a bit of lift-off in her pen in the last few days). She was the sweetest duck ever and I miss her terribly.
