Darrell Issa Admits He Enjoys Being A Thorn In John Boehner’s Side! “I’m the bane of his existence... As chairman of the House Oversight Committee, Republican Rep. Darrell Issa has made it his mission to investigate as many allegations of wrongdoing within the Obama administration as possible. In a wide-ranging Washington Examiner interview, however, the California lawmaker acknowledged that his zeal has also caused some headaches for the leaders in his own party – specifically House Speaker John Boehner. “I’m the bane of his existence,” Issa asserted, explaining that his commitment to following up on the administration’s many scandals has opened Boehner up to serious criticism from across the aisle and those who believe the committee is creeping in on their turf. “If I did much less, he’d get much less complaints from other chairmen that I was investigating things that they think are theirs,” Issa reasoned. “He’d get less complaints from former Speaker Pelosi. He definitely would have an easier life.” Though he acknowledged Boehner’s life might be easier under a less ambitious committee chairman, he noted the obvious upside to conducting multiple investigations. Issa explained Boehner “also wouldn’t have had the deep investigations” that have pointed out the administration’s failures. “It’s kind of one of those things where you don’t like the messenger but you love using the message,” he explained. “And that’s OK.” Issa, a private sector success story who admits to “not needing the job” in Congress, explained that, as a result, he enjoys the freedom to pursue issues he feels should be investigated. “It’s actually a gift, in a way,” he said, “to be able to come to Congress and not worry about whether you get re-elected – just worry about what you do in the time you’re here.” Looking back at his time as chairman, Issa makes no apologies for the scope of his investigations, explaining his only regret is that he has been unable to expose more corruption within the federal government. “I wouldn’t do less if I had to do it over again,” he said. “I might streamline things to be able to do more.” Read more at westernjournalism/darrell-issa-admits-enjoys-thorn-john-boehners-side/#3I58T6EaPHBbKS4D.99 westernjournalism/darrell-issa-admits-enjoys-thorn-john-boehners-side/#fQkc3dted0ucKtet.97
