Darryl Worley and Friends to Perform at Bumpus Harley-Davidson of Jackson JACKSON, Tenn. — July 16 — Country music star and songwriter Darryl Worley will host hit songwriters Walt Aldridge, Keith Anderson and Kendell Marvel on Tuesday, July 22, for the Darryl Worley and Friends Songwriters’ Event at Bumpus Harley-Davidson of Jackson. Held at the dealership at 326 Carriage House Dr. in Jackson, the show will begin at 7 p.m. with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. The performance benefits the Darryl Worley Foundation, which supports a variety of organizations, including St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center and the Darryl Worley Cancer Treatment Center. This event and others held in Memphis and Murfreesboro before the Tennessee River Run raise more than $120,000 annually for the charity. Through six albums and 20 hit singles, Worley has produced one of the most impressive, wide-ranging catalogs in contemporary music. In addition to his success as a musician, Worley is known for his patriotism, support of U.S. troops and emphasis on helping others. When asked about this event, Worley said, “This is a night where we have a rare opportunity hear the songwriters perform their hits and tell the stories behind them. All of us in the room get to feel like were just sitting around with friends, laughing and enjoying some music. So many people give to make this evening a great one that’s all about helping others — from the songwriters to the Bumpus family to the auction donors to the guests.” Aldridge, named one of the Top 10 Country Songwriters, has performed in the Nashville area for more than 30 years and has written more than 50 Top 40 songs. His song “No Getting Over Me” was named one of ASCAP’s most performed country songs, and “Holding Her and Loving You” was named Song of the Year by the Nashville Songwriters’ Association International. He has worked with artists including Lou Reed, Peter Cetera, Conway Twitty and Reba McEntire. Anderson wrote “Lost In This Moment,” the No. 1 smash for Big & Rich that garnered him CMA and ACM Song of the Year nominations. Anderson also co-wrote the Grammy-nominated, “Beer Run (B Double E Double Are You In?)” for Garth Brooks and George Jones, “The Bed” for Gretchen Wilson and “Barn Burner” for Jason Michael Carroll. “I Still Miss You” peaked at No. 2, and another Top 25 hit, “Sunday Morning In America,” became a quick favorite with fans. Marvel has had songs recorded by Trace Adkins, Jamey Johnson, Lee Ann Womack, Jake Owen, Blake Shelton, Gary Allan, Josh Turner, Joe Diffie and Travis Tritt. He received a BMI songwriting award for writing the Owen’s hit, “Startin’ with Me.” He co-wrote “Right Where I Need to Be” for Allan; that hit was the most-played song on country radio in 2000. Tickets are $75 each, and Second-tier Tables for eight can be purchased for $700. A $1200 Golden Circle Table includes a private meet and greet and seating for eight people.
