Date: 11th December, 2014\ SCR’s Gross Earnings reach Rs. 8103 Crs, Generating Rs. 1365 Crs of Additional Revenue over last year, with 20% Growth in the Current Fiscal Till End of November, 2014, Aided by Huge Spurt in Freight Sector The volume of traffic handled and the revenue generated by SCR have shown a robust growth during the period April - November.’14 of the current fiscal 2014-15. Close monitoring of running of train services, improved asset maintenance practices, optimal utilisation of rolling stock, active marketing efforts and innovations in operations etc. have contributed to a significant upswing in performance, in both the freight and passenger sectors in this fiscal so far. The gross originating earnings of SCR during November, 2014, were Rs.1181Crs compared to Rs. 903 Crs registered in November, 2013. The Zone has achieved a cumulative gross originating earnings of Rs.8103 Crs during the period April-November.’14, which is Rs.1365 Crs higher with an impressive +20% growth, when compared to Rs. 6738 Crs earned during the corresponding period of last fiscal. The cumulative earnings achieved is Rs. 550 Crs (+7.3%) more than the proportionate target of Rs.7553 Crs set by Railway board for the period April to November’14. The continuous surge in originating freight loading resulted in a 19.6% growth during November 2014. SCR carried an originating freight of 10 Million Tonnes (MT) in November, 2014, compared to 8.3 MT loaded in November 2013. The cumulative loading of originating freight during Apr - Nov.’14 stood at 75.3 MT, which is 6.8 MT (+10%) more than the last year’s loading in the same period and 2 MT (+2.7%) more than the proportionate target of 73.4 MT set by the Railway Board. Originating Coal loading, which constitutes 53% of total originating loading on SCR, registered 15.7 % growth in November 2014. 5.15 MT of Coal was loaded during November 2014 compared to 4.45 MT in November 2013. The cumulative loading of coal during Apr - Nov.’14 was 40.3 MT, signifying a growth of +11.2% over the last year’s loading of 36.2 MT and is higher by 3.8 % compared to the proportionate Railway Board’s target of 38.8 MT. Cement loading of 2.06 MT during November 2014, took the cumulative loading to 18.8 MT which is 6% higher over the last year’s loading in the same period. SCR loaded 0.58 MT of food grains during November, 2014, to reach 4.16 MT of cumulative loading during Apr - Nov.’14. SCR carried 0.57 MT of Fertilizers during November, 2014 boosting the cumulative loading of fertilizers to 3.1 MT till the end of November, 2014. Petroleum products, Container cargo, Raw materials for Steel plants, general merchandise goods constitute the other commodities of freight being loaded on SCR. SCR loaded 0.8 MT of imported iron ore in November, 2014 at Krishnapatnam Port which is a new stream of traffic captured by SCR this year. The cumulative loading of imported iron ore till the end of November, 2014 stood at 3.2 MT. The other streams of new freight traffic generated on SCR during November, 2014 include stone chips at Balanagar and quartz at Veldurti. Loading at Krishnapatnam Port has shown a steep rise of 98%. This Port registered a loading of 1.91 MT in November 2014, when compared to 0.96 MT loaded during November 2013. It boosted the cumulative loading to 13.8 MT with a growth of 54.3 % in this fiscal so far. Loading at Kakinada Port also looked up from 0.53 MT in November 2013 to 0.83 MT in November 2014, with 55 % growth to reach a cumulative loading of 4.8 MT during Apr - Nov.’14, which is higher by 17 % over the last year. The originating freight earnings for the month of November, 2014 were Rs.865 Crs compared to Rs. 626 Crs earned during November, 2013, registering an incremental raise of Rs.239 Crs with +38% growth. SCR earned originating freight revenue of Rs. 5675 Crs during Apr - Nov.’14 , as compared to Rs. 4670 Crs earned during the same period of last year, posting a huge incremental growth of Rs. 1005 Crs (+21.5%). It is higher by 576 Crs (+11.3%) compared to the proportionate target of Rs. 5099 Crs of freight earnings set by Railway Board. SCR carried 29.9 millions of originating passengers during November 2014, with earnings of Rs. 278 Crs. During Apr - Nov.’14, SCR cumulatively carried 246 millions of originating passengers, i.e. 10.1 lakh originating passengers on an average per day. The Cumulative originating passenger earnings till November, 2014 end went up by 18 % to Rs. 2062 Crs in the current fiscal vis-a-vis Rs. 1752 Crs achieved in the same period of last fiscal, which signifies Rs. 310 Crs incremental increase in passenger revenue.
