Dave Pirner (Soul Asylum) on his collaboration with Within Temptation on the track “Whole World Is Watching,” from the brand new album, HYDRA, out now worldwide. When I got the call I knew it was a band from the Netherlands where Soul Asylum had toured extensively and always enjoyed the gigs and the hospitality. I had heard the legend so to speak of Within Temptation. When I got the track, I immediately was drawn to it and saw a place where I could fit in...massive guitars and a great female voice. Shortly after I heard the song for the first time, I had a good talk with Robert and felt like we were on the same page as musicians and songwriters. In this day and age it was possible for me to sing on the track in my backyard studio and send it over the next day. Without having met the band yet, I passed the audition. Upon my arrival in Amsterdam, I was greeted by a very cool bunch of people. The song came out great and fun was had by all.
