David Galjaard (Haarlem, NL, 1983) is trained as a photographer at the Royal Academy of Arts in The Hague where he graduated in 2006. Since then he has been working as a documentary photographer. In addition to his self-initiated, long-term projects he works as a freelancer for several Dutch newspapers and magazines. He won various photo awards and received grants to do projects in The Netherlands, Albania and Nigeria. His work has been published in numerous national and international newspapers and magazines. Characteristic of Galjaard’s work is a contemplative and often distant view on the people and situations he photographs.
