David Kettlewell Laurie Reale Kettlewell....... I accidentally went past my exit and had to turn around in a gas station at atherton rd. As I was pulling in ,a homeless man that was looking for cans in the trash waved to me and smiled for no reason. So as I was completing my u turn I rolled my window down and said excuse me sir, I dont want to be rude but you look hungry , could you use a bite to eat? He slowly looked up and said yes sir,Its darn cold out and I havent got much.I reached over to the passenger seat and grabbed the 3 lb box of turkey Beth and Deanna gave me and I opened it up and asked him if he wanted it. He didnt say anything. He put his head down and began to cry, then looked up and said God bless you young man, and your mommy and daddy. At this point I started to cry.... Then he asked if he could give me a hug in return because he had nothing to give in return. I got out of the truck and gladly accepted and he gave me the biggest old man hug ever as we both cried. I gave him 2 bottles of water and a couple packs of hand warmers before we parted ways. I want to thank you mom and dad for teaching me to be kind,have compassion and a big heart for helping those who cant help themselves. Thank Deanna and Beth for me too. Without there kindness I wouldnt have been able to help that man. Kindness goes a long way, this encounter proves it.
