David L Reinke, I finally got a chance to see Edge of Tomorrow. I think the film would have been stronger if the humans had developed a super soldier with a time reset device rather than have the time reset being a weird after effect of Tom Cruises character being splashed with alien blood. I think the alien blood plot device was too unbelievable so served to be more confusing than what was needed for a strong underpinning of the plot. They could have had the Emily Blunt character be the super solider then implanted Tom Cruise because of his strategic analyst skills. This is actually closer to what was hinted at by the trailer rather than the actual plot. I also think it would have served to explain the obvious age difference between the two leading characters. Tom Cruise is certainly aging gracefully and still is amazingly physical but he is obviously not twenty-something anymore. I think both Oblivion and Edge of Tomorrow each just missed the mark of being a hit because of what I would call clumsy handling of too-complex plot lines.
