David Ruffin: When you talk about the Temptations, there were always points in time where one of the Hall of Famers did something that the listening public was totally unaware they were capable of, especially as it pertained to range and texture. It wasnt that their arsenals had suddenly added new found skills. The Temptations were simply so talented and flexible, they never had their full arsenal on display. Paul could sing bass. Dennis had a working tenor and even a falsetto that he used. Otis had a falsetto and baritone. Melvin easily shifted into a melodic baritone. Eddie had a very impressive natural that many were unaware of until Skys The Limit and his solo career. A lot of discussion about David and his recording of Youll Lose A Precious Love compelled me to post this. There is nothing quite like having something spelled out for you....
