David Tennant won a TV Choice Award for his role as DI Alec Harding in Broadchurch last night, beating Doctor Who star Matt Smith. Broadchurch star Olivia Colman was also nominated for best actress, but lost out to Miranda Hart who won for her portrayal of ‘Chummy’ in Call the Midwife. Broadchurch won for best new drama at the awards- which were voted for by the public- beating The Fall, Mr Selfridge and Ripper Street.
