Davida Kidd (entry #10): Davida Kidd “The cause of homeless people everywhere is to get by, and they are dealt with by society in two ways: agencies that attempt to rehabilitate them back into some form of participation with society, or to ignore them altogether as if they did not exist. Kidd’s determination to include the homeless voice as part of the politicized landscape meant she had to cross a boundary and step into their world to plead her case, firstly to them. She sees them as the people they are, another subculture that mix and move across one another’s trajectories. The protagonists are characters with names, who have points of view, opinions, and philosophies. Interspersing texts directly from the situations she looks to, the depictions of public city parks and temporary transient living conditions articulate the delicate imbalance this group of people functions within as their identity of personal landscape in cities”.
