Day 1: I expected Chiang Mai to be on par with Malaysia, but I was however very wrong..Though they both have something in common such as the scenic views of hilly mountains and lots of land,Chiang Mais weather is scorching hot in the evening and freezing cold in the night.During the trip,I hope to learn the beauty of Thai culture and also the life of a boarding student.Communicating with the students wasnt as hard as I imagined,as my buddy Ello and Ozone had learn English before. Day 2: While staying in the school,I noticed few differences between life there and life in a Singapore government school.Firstly, all of their co-curricular activities such as the band and choir have their own set of uniforms, even robotics!Unlike ours, where robotics club members would wear our pe uniform. They also get to stay overnight, and can only go home thrice every 3 weeks.Furthermore, all their meals are taken care of.I feel that life of a boarding would take time to adapt to. Day 3:It was the most emotional part of the trip. After 2 days of fun,joy and laughter, its time to depart ways.We exchange gifts, took pictures and say our last goodbyes before we went of to the next activity, umbrella painting. It gave me an opportunity to express my artistic side.K bye Day 4: The lantern activity was interesting as I learnt that the Thais do so as they believed that all their bad luck would be removed and their soul would be cleansed and they would feel untroubled and in peace. In my opinion,I feel that Thai culture is similar to Himduism,as the god Rama is both emphasized in Hinduism and Budhism.Additionally, their lifestyle isnt as complex as ours,as majority of the Chiang Mai population work in the agricultural sector.
