Day 1 at Biltmore Estates (no photography allowed inside). This home is amazing...the pool is in the basement...above the sub-basement. It has 40-something bathrooms, 30-something guest rooms and a 7-story tall dining/banquet hall (complete with 7-story tall pipe organ and 3-fire fireplace). There are 60-something fireplaces...and that just scratches the surface. The sheer magnitude of this home and the attention to detail is humbling. All of that and the home still feels warm. Indoor bowling alley, a HUGE library (11,500 books, if I remember correctly, and still only 1/2 of Venderbilts collection) with secret passages, a personal gym, a living room on each floor, etc. and, its all still privately owned...175,000 sq ft. And, the property is huge. It takes 20 min to drive from the entrance to the estate.
