Day 104-105- Yesterday brought us a nice day for riding! It was a short ride (31 miles) but it was beautiful! We rode the Gulf of St Lawrence as well as inland areas. Afterward we packed up and headed for the USA! Entered back into Maine....found a lively campground wayyyy out in the woods next to a lovely lake. It was Redneck Weekend at the campground.....interesting! We had a great rest and left early this morning looking for a church. We attended a very quaint little Baptist church in Machais, ME. A nice New England church. We decided to head into Acadia Natl Park to see the views atop Cadillac Mountain. Wow....incredible. I highly recommend visiting. The views are extraordinary. We are now heading to check in to a campground for tonight. For those who do not know this......I have NEVER camped prior to us getting the tandem a year and a half ago! Yes...its true....I had severe asthma & allergies as a kid and I was unable. Well....as I got older I became able to camp I just wasnt interested.....I was a wimp! Boy....was I wrong....I regret that I havent camped sooner. I missed out on something great. Well....not anymore folks...Im a fan for live now! Bruce....Mr Eagle Scout....Mr camp expert....loves camping and hes loving it! It was Bruces idea to bike across the USA. Years ago he talked of it. You may know that he biked the USA alone in 1981. He always wanted to do it again when he retired.....us together...on a tandem! Well.....you are crazy is what I thought! But.......the way things were going within my soul...it was time! Time to just do it! And it has changed my life forever! I could tour permanently! (Isnt there a job position available out there for a professional touring cyclist??!! Lol.) Now Im not in the greatest shape and I am easing into the physical demands of touring but I believe its about 10% physical...90% mental for me. The physical part develops and comes along in time.....the mental is leaps & bounds more than words can express. Hopefully one day Ill be the power horse stoker for Bruce. But Im doing the absolute best that I can in the condition Im in.....still overcoming back surgery and back issues. Funny thing is for me......cycling has been the best physical therapy of any for my back. Well thats enough for now! Night!
