Day 12 of #AsanaRecipeChallenge with #ekamathletica Urdhva Danurasana #backbend are personally the hardest #yogapose for me. I do not naturally have an open back, I had 3 major hip muscle torn due to an unsafe adjustment that still challenges me to this day, and a shoulder injury. #yogadrills have become my best friends. I needed to separate the work to learn it, understand it, begin to heal certain areas. Surprisingly enough, backbends are really just glorified leg strengtheners. Check out @immarafrancesca for drills and modifications. When doing the full posture allow the work and pose to come from the legs. Begin on the crown of your head & coil the upper back. Then only straighten the arms because of the space that has been created from lifting through the legs. Once up focus on taking the chest & butt away from each other while continuing to lift straight up with the legs. #yoga #yogachallege #ashtanga
