Day 15: Im thankful for our missionaries serving on the foreign field. For the past couple of weeks Ive been spending a few hours reading through current prayer and update letters from the missionaries my church supports all over the globe. Its been eye opening to read about their perspective on American evangelistic efforts, and I think we (Christians living in the US) may be losing our focus. The following comment was made by a veteran church planter speaking about his own ministry in Latin America (Ill paraphrase a bit): Over the years we spent so much time focused on doing church on Sundays, and we had gotten good at it. However, we forgot about being the church out in the community the other days of week. Weve returned our focus to soul winning and evangelism. Sounds like a fabulous prescription for those of us in the United States that have lost sight of the fact that building Gods kingdom by living out our faith and working out our own salvation in front of a lost and dying world is a far greater use of our time and resources than merely seeking to entertain the masses on Sunday morning.
