Day 17 Fun in the Sun! We can all use so extra stretching to increase our flexibility, decrease our risk of injury and improve our overall athletic performance! A fun way to stretch and get some sunshine is to go to the park. If you are stretching before a workout hold each stretch for 3-5 seconds and perform each stretch 2-3x. If you are stretching after a workout hold each stretch 20-30 seconds and perform each stretch 1-3x. Park Stretches 1) Standing Pilates roll down 2) Downward facing dog 3) Standing quad stretch 4) Seated hip stretch (sit on a park bench and cross one ankle on the opposite knee then lean forward) 5) Standing hamstring stretch; face the bench and put your foot on the bench then lean forward 6) Dancer leg stretch side; keep your leg on the bench but position your body so your leg is out to the side then bend your body toward the leg 7) Standing calf stretch 8) Chest stretch; place 1 hand slightly higher than your shoulder on a vertical bar then twist away 9) Gentle head circles
