Day 2: 1. I am grateful for my baba koala, Bill Yarbrough that I was chosen by the cosmos to be his first born & carry out a new generation of that sacred energy into the world. No duo feeds off of each others energy like we do, nobody has a blast going hungover grocery shopping & comes back bearing flowers & sporting matching frilly scarves singing punk music out the top of a convertible. No other father would go see GWAR with their daughter just because she asked him to, & say they would go again. I dont know anyone else whose friends get excited when their dad is coming along for something. Thank you for making me a veteran of the streets of New Orleans, of kindness, of love, & finding the best bars & the best music anywhere I go, singing & dancing with me down the streets. Always uplifting my sprit & never ceasing to believe in my abilities. I know Im a pain in the ass but youre always there to kick it when I need it. Its carved into my heart & etched into my skin: for you, a thousand times over. 2. I am grateful for my aunt Anne & uncle Victor who invited me into their home, their hearts, & their life in California. I never believed that life could be so rich, that there could be so much love, wisdom, family, & pure bliss available to me in the form of hugs, our good cooking, & absolutely enjoyment of each others company on a daily basis. I cant explain how your love & your belief in me has transformed my life, even far before I came out here. I cant say thank you enough... But I think it all day, every day. 3. My sister, Lauren Romaine. All of the lessons about love, friendship, & living in perfect harmony despite total opposites. Everything I learned about what matters in life I learned from growing up with you. & you have always been so patient, tolerant, & caring of me, without judgment, no matter what shenanigans I was getting into. I would do anything for you, with you, or to protect you. I love you.
