Day 2: James 3:1-4. Whether you have a formal role of teaching - TopicsExpress

Day 2: James 3:1-4. Whether you have a formal role of teaching or not, you may have other people who listen to you and that means you are held responsible for how you influence them, especially through your speech. If you’re in a role like this, have you given much thought to this responsibility? Don’t take it lightly! Also, know that every successful teacher has to deal with people who do not like him or her. That’s normal, but don’t let those detractors cause you to lose heart! It’s hard to control the tongue! All of us slip up at times and cause damage to others through our speech. But don’t ever quit responding to God’s work on your speech! It’s worth the effort and the pain to improve because your speech directs the course of your life and the influence that you have on others. Give it your best effort, and pray that God will give you the perseverance to refine your speech. Can you think of a time where you caused hurt with your words? What is one thing you can do this week to ensure that your speech is honoring to God and loving to other people?
