Day 2 – Cleansed for the Master’s Use But in a great house - TopicsExpress

Day 2 – Cleansed for the Master’s Use But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. 2 Timothy 2:20-21 The Apostle Paul wrote a metaphoric example that compares gold and silver to wood and clay. While both are useful for a purpose, only the ones that are of great value are used in honorable occasions. Fine China and gold goblets and silver gravy boats are just some of the items used in an “excellent” setting; a setting fit for a King. Paul reminds us as believers that our vessels must be cleansed. Why? The cleansed vessel is the one that is fit for the Master’s use because the cleansed vessel pursues righteousness, faith, love, and peace. Paul warns us to avoid foolishness and ignorant disputes that only lead to strife and division because we always want to be ready to be used by our Master. As we begin this journey of cleansing, what type of vessel are you now and what would you like to be? Application: Today, find some time to be still before the Lord. Make your prayer time one where you can ask God candidly what type of vessel you are. Then listen to hear His response as He guides you through the process of cleansing. Additional Reading: 2 Corinthians 6:17-18 Prayer: Lord, cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Help me to be a vessel that is fit for your use. Show me how to walk in righteousness, faith, love and peace.
