Day 23 in the NICU. The last 24 hours has been hard for me. Yesterday evening, I was breathing pretty hard and pretty deep. Mommy and Daddy were very worried about me. The nurses turned up my oxygen to 30 and that helped a little, but more needed to be done. So this morning, I had lots of things done to me. I have several blood test done to see what is going on with my blood and too see if I have an infection. I had a chest x-ray (which was negative). My blood work showed a slight elevation for an infection, so they did a urine and blood culture which will take 24-48 hours to get back. I am showing the need for a blood transfusion so they started one on me this evening. I will have another transfusion tomorrow also. The time to transfuse blood is 3 hours for each transfusion. During that time, they stop my feedings and and they check my temperature and blood pressure every 30 minutes. Im hoping after the transfusion I feel better and that I am able to breath better too. I have been stuck with a needle to many times today and I would just like a break!!! Daddy read to me this afternoon before all of this took place. I really like the princess stories. Mommy got to hold me today too!!! Tonight, please pray for me. Pray the blood helps me and does not cause any residual problems. Pray that I continue to grow big and strong. (Btw, I did grow another 1/4 inch, Im now 13 inches long). I also ask that you pray for my parents. They are struggling right now with making some decision and they could use some of Gods guidance and strength. We all know Im here because of my ability to fight and because of prayer. Right now, we need them!!! Im really tired as it has been a hard day for me. So, until tomorrow, much love, Gabriella Marie.
