Day 24 of #HiddeninChrist Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. Some quotes from the chapter: Peace is not merely the absence of strife; it is the presence of harmony. The idea of peace is not what solves conflict; it is the peace of Jesus that provides the power we need to live and work in harmony. J. B. Lightfoot: Where there is a conflict of motives or desires, the peace of Christ must step in and decide which is to prevail. (commenting on the word "rule" used only once in the NT and it is similar to a sporting event referee). Letting the peace of Christ rule in our hearts is the same as setting our minds on things above (Colossians 3:2). Strife is often the result of people being disconnected from the kingdom, not united to Jesus, and in that place of weakness they latch on to their position or argument as if their value depended on it. For the peace of Christ to rule in a community, it must first rule in the hearts of the individuals who compost it. And now to close with the collect (prayer) for the day: O God, who causes the minds of the faithful to unite in a single purpose, grant your people to love what you command and to desire what you promise, that, amid the uncertainties of this world, our hearts may be fixed on that place where true gladness is found. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.
