Day 3 at the MRIU Campus: Talent Hunt- The B. Tech Beat … Talent Hunt for the Engineering Freshers was an event for the students, of the students and by the students. The Preliminary round of the Talent Hunt gave the newcomers a taste of campus life, away from books and classes. They soaked up all its fun and entertainment and felt greatly invigorated. Organized at the A-Block auditorium of the campus, the freshers were at first a little in awe of its plush settings. But once they got over their initial reticence, the students came up on stage to showcase their skills and talents. While CSE fresher Sahil strummed on his guitar to present a medley of three foot-tapping numbers, his classmate Sneha sang ‘Junoon’ with great aplomb. Newcomer Sidhant Kundu from the Mechanical stream came in as a breath of fresh air, as he opened up about his dreams and aspirations. Wanting to break away from the song and dance routine, Computer Science fresher Abhipray read out his own Hindi poem, a bit self-conscious and shy. FET fresher Shristi Chauhan got everyone into a poignant mood with her rendition of ‘Teri galiyan”, and while she had no formal training in music, mustered ample courage to sing for the first time on stage. College senior Debojit Guha put up a show of his 3D artworks through a screen presentation while Sidhant Walia gave students glimpses of his photographic images. The Freshers were greatly enraptured when Faculty Darpan Dahiya of the Mechanical Engineering branch sang an original composition on his guitar. The show, anchored by B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) student Sidharth Raj Solanki, was their stepping stone to college life--a life, they knew, would be eventful and vibrant.
