Day 3 in the The Heart of Christmas devotional by Hank Hanegraff. Today devotional is title The Golden Key of Messianic Prophecies in which we remember Luke 24:27 where Jesus explains Then beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, He (Jesus) explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures. It is important to remember that Jesus came to fulfill the type and shadows of the Law and the prophets. Daniel predict the progression of kingdoms that would come, starting with Babylon, Median, Persian, and the Syrian despots that desecrated of the Jewish Temple, and then rise the of the Jews under Jews Maccabeus. More important the book of Daniel points to coming Messiah. After 70 years they did experience a partial restoration of city of Jerusalem (Jeremiah 29:10) but the freedom they felt through the Maccabeus was typology of they will experience through ultimate restoration in Jesus the Messiah. Jesus is the fulfillment of the type and shadows of the law and the prophets. There fore they are prophecy about Messiah then anything else. Jesus fulfill many of these prophecy by deliberately consider to fulfill: He was from line of David (Isaiah 11:1), He was born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2), He was crucified with criminals (Isaiah 53:12), the piercing of his hands and feet on the cross (Psalm 22:18); the soldiers gambling for his clothes (Psalm 22:18), they pierce his side and no bones broken (Zechariah 12:10), and he was burial among the rich (Isaiah 53:9). One of the most beloved prophecy is Isaiah 9:6-7, For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace, On the throne of David and over his kingdom, To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness From then on and forevermore. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this. Jesus even fulfilled his own prophecy that after they destroy this temple (Jesus body) that in three days he would raise from the dead (John 2:19, 22). One of the Golden keys to reaching people for Christ is exposing them to word of God and showing Jesus is the fulfillment of the Law and the prophet. So as we approach Christmas let us point to people to the one Jesus Christ who has come to fulfill the law and prophets. Let show where Jesus has fulfill prophecy specifically about himself. Christmas Carol Come, Thou Long-Expected Jesus Original Written by Charles Wesley Come, Thou long-expected Jesus, born to set Thy people free; from our fears and sins release us; let us find our rest in Thee. Israel’s strength and consolation, hope of all the earth Thou art; dear desire of every nation, joy of every longing heart. Joy to those who long to see thee, Dayspring from on high, appear; come, thou promised Rod of Jesse, of thy birth we long to hear! O’er the hills the angels singing news, glad tidings of a birth; “Go to him, your praises bringing; Christ the Lord has come to earth.” Come to earth to taste our sadness, he whose glories knew no end; by his life he brings us gladness, our Redeemer, Shepherd, Friend. Leaving riches without number, born within a cattle stall; this the everlasting wonder, Christ was born the Lord of all. Born Thy people to deliver, born a child, and yet a King, born to reign in us forever, now Thy gracious kingdom bring. By Thine own eternal Spirit rule in all our hearts alone; by Thine own sufficient merit, raise us to Thy glorious throne. https://youtube/watch?v=vRAFQCOkjgE
