Filled with disappointment as I read Imprints latest article on their front page. Not only was it a poorly written article in terms of basic grammar (littered with misspelling my school and my program), it came off as incredibly one-sided as I read it. If anything, this would have been acceptable an opinion piece. I dont find it acceptable that my school newspaper (which I always held to the highest of standards, mostly influenced by my love for Gilmore Girls) is making poorly researched statements against my student association which is my student voice. I also dont like it when other people speak for me. SAF is not a business school, you are correct, but you also cannot use the pronoun WE if you arent actually in SAF. Liberal arts is special and you would never see a SAF student leader making bold comments towards ASU in public media to the extent of the the individuals in this article. Ive never denied the fact that ASU is our parent organization but frankly, Im embarrassed that this is how our parent organization was represented in this article. SAF students thrive because of the amazing things that AFSA offers and I know I wouldnt be who I am today if I didnt have such a strong team of alumni exec year over year advocating for the needs of me and my peers. Our AFSA executives work tirelessly to make sure that our students get as much value as possible and anyone in SAF should be able to see how much they advocate for the best interest of the students to make sure were getting just as solid of an undergraduate experience as our friends who chose accredited business schools, as ASU puts it. Ive been on this team before and its not an easy job - and they deserve so much more credit than this article gives them. Only comment if you have something intelligent to say - I think weve all gotten our dose of poorly thought out words today.
