Day 3 of 7 songs 7 days 7 friends. Challenged by Scott Reigel Objective is to play 7 songs in 7 days that mean something to you and challenge 7 friends to do the same! Today I challenge Allesandre Davylle Day 3: Kiss - Detroit Rock City 1976 Americas Bicentennial, and I was 10 years old...and like every 10 year old boy, I was a fan of Kiss... They were outlandish, loud, scary, and over-the-top... and my friends and I couldnt get enough of them... My friend Richard McRae is who turned me onto KISS, playing their first records for me, while I was at his house, and I was blown away... Id heard/seen nothing like them.. They were the first group that I followed...reading mag interviews, watching them on tv, etc...and as I was an artist, I used to draw pics of them a lot as their look was so cartoonish yet dark.. Well, 1976 is when Destroyer came out and it was the first Kiss album I had ever bought on my own... When I threw that on, there was no looking back...the opening track grabbed me and wouldnt let go...hell the whole album did (though, as a 10 year old, I could do without the love songs), but songs like Detroit Rock City and God of Thunder made up for silliness like Great Expectations...for the most part. I probably remained a Kiss Army member until the late 80s, having grown bored with their later output...but damn if their 70s releases dont still kick ass... My last time seeing Kiss live was in 1985 on their Animalize tour with Krokus.. After that, just lost interest....but even now, when I hear Detroit Rock City, I cant help but rock out... youtu.be/3WcyAR3mOwU
