Day 3 of being thankful: Sugar and Spice Sugar and spice and everything nice thats what little girls are made of Sunshine and rainbows and ribbons for hair bows thats what little girls are made of Tea parties, laces and baby doll faces thats what little girls are made of author unknown I literally had sugar and spice daughters only the spice came first. My girls are 9 years apart and polar opposites of each other. Spicy Laci is all right brain, very social, talkative, artsy, warm, feely touchy, and not an athletic bone in her body. She will argue with a fence post and fight a grizzly bear. She loves hard, plays hard and trusts everyone. I have been going toe to toe with her since she started walking at 6 months of age. She will hate my guts and write me off one night and wake me up the next morning with coffee and sweet rolls hot from the oven. When she pops those brilliant blue eyes and flashes that perfect smile, I just cant do anything but think what a beautiful woman she has become. She was like an Etch a Sketch, shake her up a little and let the dust settle and start with a clean slate. We have both developed a little more patience but our love for each other contains sparks and crashes. I wouldnt know what to do without my crazy Lou. Sweet Alea was a sweet surprise and lit up our world like a little firefly on a fall night. I couldnt wait to get home from work just to spend time with her. Her teachers always described her as a joy to be around. She is left brain, home body, literal, loner, reader, people pleaser. She would rather walk 10 miles in the snow than be a burden to someone. Calling in a pizza order was beyond her comfort zone. She is stoic and brave and adventurous. Alea is the athletic one. She loved playing ball and she loved winning. Her HUGS are epic and special because she doesnt hand out affection lightly. Our love is quite and calm, no sparks and crashes but it is deep and we both know it is constant. I miss my sweet AleaKat everyday. Thank you God for my Ying and my Yang. My life would not have been complete without those two bursts of color, one like fire works on a summer night and the other like a beautiful pastel painting that soothes and calms. Laci and Alea I love you both a bushel and a peck, to the moon, and to infinity and beyond.
