Day #30 Monday, mental health, media and Mark the Moron Today...well... meh! You know the type? Just a meh kind of Monday. Post weekend blues and absolute incredulity at the moronic statements printed by OVER-OPINIONATED AND UNDER-EDUCATED losers like Mark Latham! What a freaking idiot! So...single professional working mums who use antidepressants are cowardly hey Mark? They are taking the easy way out hey? There is SO much I could say right now but i dont feel he needs much more energy aimed at him except to say...You sir (cough cough), are an absolute ASS! All single mums out there dealing with full time work and coping with depression...I salute you. You are warriors...NOT cowards. You are sensibly responsible for your mental health when you reach out for help... NOT weak. You are setting positive examples to your children of how to care for yourselves in order to best provide them with a safe, stable life NOT showing them (as Latham insinuates) that they forced you to pop pills just to cope. Most people I know turn each stone ( sometimes a few times) in order to find organic answers and solutions to illnesses. From diet changes and exercise to hormone, enzyme, nutrient testing and therapy. From mercury cleansing to hypnotherapy. From yoga, CBT,meditation and reiki to journaling, self help guru book reading, doco watching and you tube mindfulness, visualisation and guided imagery clips. Far out Mark...sometimes medication is the FINAL and crucial resort for people when the illness is at a stage where NOTHING else is working. Your comments not only damage ANY credibility you had as a columnist but they seriously undermine the great work of organisations like The Black Dog Institute and Beyond Blue...tireless crusaders to destigmatise mental health issues in our society. Good job dickhead...you may have just turned the clock back 50 years in this regard. Sheesh... Exercise: Leg day. Usually my fave but I struggled tonight. Mojo was M.I.A so I needed more than the usual inner dialogue to get me going. Walked home, put dinner in the oven and headed out for a quick run to clear the head and pump the endorphins. Diet: Dinner wasnt calling me so I opted for yoghurt, berries, nuts and seeds and Manuka honey. Kazzy comfort food. :) Gratitude: I am thankful to have been raised with a strong work ethic, to have an opinion and express it, to question judgemental people in order to challenge their thinking. I am thankful for being strong enough to know that asking for help is not showing weakness...it is simply another example of inner strength and self love.
